Charles Brown

Austin, TX
A transplant to Austin, Texas, Charles Brown hails from the Southern California area. Starting out as a saxophone player in his high school marching band, he was cut the second week of band camp. His band director told him that he would never make it in the marching band world; that he should try the guard thing - a quote that he later regrets in saying.

A trained dancer, he was quickly spotted by the color guard instructor at his high school and earned a spot in the rifle line.

He went on to march with the 1988 DCI World Champions, the Madison Scouts. Having also performed with the L.A. Motion Winter Guard and the Kingsmen Winter Guard, he gained a strong appreciation for the pageantry arts.

No stranger to some of southern Californias finest music programs, Charles has taught at Etiwanda High School, Rancho Cucamonga High School, John W. North High School, Valley View High School and Palm Desert High School, just to name a few.

He serves as an adjudicator for Winter Guard International, Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association, Winter Guard Association of Southern California and he serves as the Judges Administrator for the Texas Color Guard Circuit Judges Association and the North Texas Color Guard Association. He also is an invited guest to many other band and winter guard contests across the country.

Charles also has found his way into the regional theatre scene having served in the staring role as Smudge in the holiday classic, Plaid Tidings at the Zachary Scott Theatre in Austin, Texas and is currently working toward his SAG membership. Also to his stage credits was a one year run with the Comedy Troupe Esthers Follies, which earned him an IDA B. PAYNE AWARD for Best Male Comedy Performance. He has signed with Collier Talent Agency in Austin to further his career.
