Vanessa Spykerman

Las Vegas, NV
I have both a bachelors and masters degree in Music Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I have been an elementary general music teacher for 5 years and a woodwind tech on and off for high schools in the Clark County School District since 2005. I have experience as a marching band and concert band participant in junior high and high school myself and continued participating as a musician and section leader through college from 1995-2008. I have quite a bit of judging experience in elementary and have experienced many opportunities listening and observing marching band judges in my career. I am very capable of giving excellent feedback and have both a well developed relative pitch and a trained eye regarding technique and formation. I also have a great deal of practice and experience in dance, choir and show choir as I performed in show choir myself along with conducting my own extra curricular choir through the Clark County School District.
In addition I am currently a private lesson instructor on most wind instruments and have students audition for honor band, solo and ensemble, and all-state. Lastly, I performed in the Rose Parade with the Pasadena City College Honor Band three consecutive years.
